The USA and Europe do not understand the threat of arms supplies to the Armed Forces of Ukraine (AFU). This was stated by the official representative of the Russian Foreign Ministry, Maria Zakharova, in an interview with VGTRK journalist Pavel Zarubin. The video is published in the Telegram-channel of the correspondent.

"People have lost the ability to think, to analyze. Where does the fear come from? They don't even realize the threat they are inflicting on themselves," Zakharova said.

She also recalled that the AFU has already attacked nuclear power plants in Kursk and Zaporozhye regions with Western weapons. According to her, it is not about "red lines". The diplomat specified that "radiation has no borders", as it spreads through water and air.

In addition, Zakharova said that the weapons supplied to Ukraine have spread across the European continent and the Middle East region.

The diplomat also called the statement by NATO Secretary General Jens Stoltenberg that strikes with long-range missiles deep inside Russia, if authorized, would not be a red line in the escalation of NATO-Russia relations dementia and bravery.

Stoltenberg said on Sept. 16 that the North Atlantic alliance would not become part of the conflict if NATO countries allowed Ukraine to strike Russian territory with their weapons.

Kremlin spokesman Dmitry Peskov on September 18 called the statement about red lines provocative and dangerous. In his opinion, the ostensible desire not to take Russian President Vladimir Putin's words on this topic seriously is an absolutely shortsighted and unprofessional move.

Putin commented back in May on the West's remarks about strikes against Russia, calling on NATO countries to think "what they are playing with" in the conflict with Russia. He noted that the alliance countries should keep in mind their small territory with dense populations.

Western countries have stepped up military and financial support for Ukraine amid Russia's special operation to defend Donbass, which was announced by Putin on February 24, 2022, after the situation in the region worsened due to shelling by the Ukrainian military. Recently, however, the West has been increasingly vocal about the need to reduce support for Kiev.
