The racer from Spain Carlos Sainz was involved in an accident while piloting a Ferrari during the championship "Formula 1". This was reported on the website of "Formula 1" on Saturday, September 21.

The accident occurred during the qualification of the 18th stage of the championship - the Grand Prix of Singapore. The race was held on the city track "Marina Bay". In the third segment Sainz suddenly lost control of the car and flew off the track into the barrier on the corner. Qualifying was stopped by red flags.

The racer noted that he could not explain the cause of the accident and was surprised by what happened.

"I clearly underestimated or overestimated in this case the grip I would get from a very cold tire. <...> I apologize to the team and everyone because it's not the way you want to end qualifying," he remarked.

Earlier, on July 28, British Mercedes driver George Russell received a disqualification after winning the Belgian Grand Prix due to a violation of the minimum weight of the car.
