A city contest for Chechen language knowledge among schoolchildren has been announced in Grozny, Grozny-Inform reported on Wednesday, September 25. Pupils of grades 2-11 will take part in the event, and the winner will be announced next spring.

The contest will be held from September 23, 2024 to April 25, 2025 in two stages: school and municipal. In parallel, the Chechen capital will host various thematic events, scientific conferences and quizzes.

"Language is the foundation of any nation's cultural identity. It is our duty not only to preserve it, but also to develop it, passing it on to future generations. In 2023, considerable work was done to strengthen the position of the Chechen language in the educational system, and we are continuing this path," said Deputy Mayor and Head of the Grozny City Hall Education Department Zelimkhan Akhmatov at the opening ceremony of the contest at School No. 60.

According to him, the event will be an important step in identifying talented pupils who know and respect their language.

The first stage of the contest started in all schools of the city at the same time. Pupils performed tasks of writing down words in Chechen and translating them into Russian and then classifying them.

Earlier it was reported that Russia introduced an artificial intelligence in the Tatar language. The new version of AI is expected to be in demand in archives, libraries and state institutions, as well as in commercial companies that require work with documents.
