Russians told about their attitude to fakes of famous brands
CDEK.Shopping, a service for the redemption and delivery of goods from abroad, conducted a survey to find out how Russian citizens feel about replicas and where they buy original goods of luxury brands. The results were provided to Izvestia on September 24.
More than 42% of Russians admitted that they buy only genuine products from famous brands. At the same time, about a third of respondents (34.6%) noted that they do not neglect fakes and quietly wear pseudo-branded stuff. Almost every fifth (18.8%) refuses to buy famous brands because they cannot determine whether the goods are original or not.
More than a third of respondents choose only original perfumes and cosmetics. 36.1% of respondents claim that counterfeit goods from these niches can be of poor quality and cause health problems. However, 28.3% of respondents can argue with this - in their opinion, non-original cosmetics and perfumes can also be of high quality. For about a quarter of Russians the brand name of such products is absolutely unimportant, as they are convinced that all cosmetic products are produced at the same factory.
At the same time, only 7.6% of Russians buy copies of branded cosmetics. A much larger part of the population (32.7%) keeps replica accessories in their closet and 27.2% of them wear fake shoes. About 20% of respondents also wear pseudo-branded outerwear, and some (13.8%) even have copies of underwear from luxury brands.
Having seen a fake at their acquaintance's place, 36.3% of people will react negatively. But they will not tell their interlocutor about it. 29.3% of respondents admitted that they do not pay attention to the authenticity of things from others, and 26.2% of them are generally convinced that everyone should decide for themselves what to wear. 1.9% of Russians will react extremely negatively to a fake thing - in such a situation they are ready to immediately stop communicating with its owner, referring such an interlocutor to the rank of "posers".
Among the most common fake brands Russians note Louis Vuitton. It is noticed by 22.3% of respondents. About 20% of respondents noted that they most often meet replicas from Nike, Reebok, Abibas. The least of all fakes people noticed products from Balenciaga - only 8.7% of them stumbled upon it.
When asked where they currently buy branded things, about 40% of respondents said that they order goods through buyers or intermediary services. More than 20% of respondents are looking for brands in second hand and commission stores, about the same number (20.7%) - prefer to buy luxury goods on trusted marketplaces. At the same time, 13.2% of Russians noted that they specifically travel abroad to buy products of the desired brand. Only 1.2% of respondents refused to search for such goods.
In order to check the authenticity of the brand, most people check labels and tags. This is how 42.5% of Russians recognize the originality of a thing. More than 36% of them approach the check more seriously and look for its serial number in the database. More than 20% of respondents turn to the Internet to get more effective advice on how to check the purchase.
In April, Alexei Govyrin, a member of the State Duma Committee on Small and Medium Entrepreneurship, told Izvestia about the responsibility for selling counterfeit goods in retail and on marketplaces. Thus, civil liability is envisaged for this - brand owners can claim compensation for violation of exclusive rights to a trademark. The amounts of compensation range from 10,000 to 5 million roubles or even double the value of the entire batch of counterfeit goods.
