The sniper unit of the Central Group of Forces is one of the most effective units of the Russian Armed Forces in the Avdiivka area. "Izvestia" talked to Russian servicemen and showed footage of their work in the zone of the special military operation.
It is noted that the main task of snipers of the RF Armed Forces is to support the offensive of the group of troops "Center" and cover the assault units.
"Assault company goes - we are behind, 200-300 meters. Let's say a task comes in - the infantry can't break through, a machine gunner is in the way. They give us a point. We look at the neighborhood, the terrain, but again approximately, because we come there, respectively, the map is already a little bit invalid. You understand, the landscape changes depending on the shelling. We look for an elevation and observe, neutralize", - said the sniper with the call sign Fizruk.
The commander of the sniper platoon with the call sign Razdor also noted that in an operation to eliminate an enemy sniper it is always clear which point the militant from the Armed Forces of Ukraine (AFU) chose, as they sometimes work negligently.
"There was a shot - it was heard, it was visible. He thus gave himself away, I worked on him. Even later when the storm troopers eventually went there, we found him. He had a Savage rifle, an American rifle. It had a standard American rifle scope with a 2.4 magnification. There was no silencer either. A negligent attitude to their work, I think," explained Razdor.
Izvestia's military correspondent Valentin Trushnin also talked to a sniper with the call sign Ostyak, who recently had his first combat outing. He admitted that at first it was very interesting, but the realization of the danger of what was going on around came only after some time. Now it is necessary not to lose vigilance.
But despite the threat to life, the snipers bravely continue to fulfill their task. Each keeps a personal account of the targets hit, but they keep silent about the numbers, as it is part of their professional ethics.
Earlier, on September 21, the Russian Defense Ministry reported that the snipers of the Southern Group of Forces destroyed the AFU's manpower and also disrupted the enemy's rotation in the Donetsk direction. Scouts promptly transmitted the coordinates of the target, which the sniper unit was sent to destroy. The snipers with accurate shots from a distance of 400 meters not only destroyed the Ukrainian fighters, but also disrupted the rotation of the AFU, which was supposed to take place at night.
The special operation to protect Donbass, the start of which Russian President Vladimir Putin announced on February 24, 2022, continues. The decision was made against the backdrop of the worsening situation in the region.
