Moscow and Bishkek have approved projects to build Russian-language schools in Kyrgyzstan, the republic's ambassador to Russia Kubanychbek Bokontayev told Izvestia.

"The appearance of nine schools with instruction in Russian has become the most large-scale joint socially-oriented project of recent years and is very important for our country. <...> Last year the construction of schools in Bishkek, Batken and Karakol was launched at the highest level. For the remaining schools, which are planned to be built in the city of Osh, Jalal-Abad, Naryn, Osh, Talas and Chui oblasts of the Kyrgyz Republic, work is underway in terms of approving project documentation," he said.

On September 1, 2023, Russian and Kyrgyz Presidents Vladimir Putin and Sadyr Zhaparov launched a project to build nine Russian-language schools in Kyrgyzstan.

Interaction between the authorized bodies of the parties on this project is ongoing and very active, the ambassador added.
