Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy staged a "performance" with a trip to Washington in order to divert attention from the failures of the Armed Forces of Ukraine (AFU) in Donbas. This was stated by Oleg Soskin, a former adviser to former Ukrainian President Leonid Kuchma, on his YouTube channel on September 23.

"Well now he has come up with this 'beautiful', of course, performance art with a trip to the United States," Soskin said, adding that this is happening against the backdrop of a front that is cracking at the seams.

An ex-advisor to the former Ukrainian president characterized the actions of Zelensky and his administration as "buffoonery" against the backdrop of the Ukrainian armed forces' failures in the conflict.

Zelensky (whose term of office expired on May 20) flew to the United States on Sunday, September 22, where he is expected to present his plan of action in the conflict in Ukraine to U.S. leader Joe Biden. It was noted that this draft presumably implies a demand to strike Russian territories.

On the same day, British professor Mark Galeotti wrote in The Times that Zelensky's allies do not believe in the very possibility of victory under his plan. The publication later noted that the Ukrainian president's "victory plan" contains four points, including a demand for security and regular guarantees from the West and approval of the continuation of the operation in Kursk Region.

As the Kremlin's official spokesman, Dmitriy Peskov, noted, there is a lot of contradictory and unreliable information on Zelensky's visit at the moment, which the Russian authorities treat with restraint.

Western countries have stepped up military and financial support for Ukraine against the backdrop of Russia's special operation to protect Donbass, which was announced by Russian President Vladimir Putin on February 24, 2022, after the situation in the region worsened due to shelling by the Ukrainian military.
