British rock band The Cure announced the release of their first new song in 16 years on September 23.

The band's social network page X (formerly Twitter) says that the song will be released on September 26, and listeners of the British radio station BBC will be the first to evaluate it at 12:00 (14:00 Moscow time).

The group's social media post is accompanied by a 20-second excerpt from the song.

British newspaper The Guardian called the composition Alone a symphonic ballad, which comes ahead of the new album Songs of a Lost World, which the band has been working on for several years.

The Cure's last album was 2008's 4:13 Dream.

Earlier on September 5, American rock band Linkin Park announced the release of their first studio album since the death of the band's lead singer Chester Bennington in 2017. The album is titled From Zero and is set for release on November 15. A world tour has been announced on the band's website.
