RTRS warned of possible interference in TV broadcasting in October due to the Sun
In Russia in October, interference may occur on TV screens due to solar interference. This was reported on September 23 in the Russian television broadcasting network (RTRS).
It is reported that solar interference will begin on September 27 and may lead to interference. Thus, for three weeks every day the Sun, a communications satellite and a terrestrial repeater will line up in one line.
"The repeater, oriented toward the spacecraft, will receive powerful solar radio radiation that can jam the useful signal from the satellite. If jammed - on the screens of viewers in the coverage area of the repeater will be interference," - said in the material, which quotes "RIA Novosti".
Interference in television broadcasting can last from a few seconds to 22 minutes a day, noted "Gazeta.Ru".
Earlier, September 16, the head of the laboratory of solar astronomy IKI RAS Sergey Bogachev told "Izvestia" that in August 2024 solar activity index was 215 and exceeded the forecasts of scientists twice. This may be due to the fact that the star is at the minimum of the 100-year cycle. Bogachev noted that, according to the forecasts of scientists, at the peak of the current cycle values of solar activity should have been 105-110.
