Word to the kid: Leon Kemstach was held hostage by a robot in Alexei Chadov's movie
A Russian robot goes on the run in Alexei Chadov's new movie "(Not) Artificial Intelligence." This is his second directorial work. Shooting began in September. In the story freshman Zhenya accidentally falls into the test sample of a new model of cyborg, and the one, having received a pilot, escapes from the laboratory. The main role in the film is played by a popular young actor Leon Kemstach. More - in the report "Izvestia" from the set.
"Offered completely under me to write the project
At the entrance to a children's camp near Moscow is greeted by a friendly stretching "Welcome to the family". But it is unlikely that they were expecting such guests: at the cozy buildings, decorated with colored flags, parked massive cars of military police with a group of sturdy guys in full armor - in helmets, bulletproof vests and with automatic rifles. They came for the fugitive - robot A.P.O100L ("Apostle"), which has its own will, mind and a great desire to see the world. The 17-year-old student Zhenya unwittingly helped him slip out of the lab. During a tour of the research center, the guy accidentally hit a test sample of a new model of cyborg, and the one, having been given a pilot, took control and gave a yank. "(Not) Artificial Intelligence" is directed by Alexei Chadov. This is his second directorial project and his first in the genre of family comedy.
- Scary... Scary interesting! But still the period passed a decent. I haven't filmed for three years. We were preparing one picture, even launched, the movie "She-Wolf", but it was not possible to enter the shooting process. So I spent another year working on this project. I have two children - not only Fedor, but also a daughter appeared. And I really wanted to make a family movie. This means that both dad and mom will also be interested: our movie is designed for an adult audience. There is action, and special effects, and elements of science fiction, and drama, and a fascinating road-movie.
In the project Chadov is not only a director, but also an actor: he will appear as the father of the main character. Screen son - 17-year-old Zhenya - played by one of the most promoted today's young stars Leon Kemstach. His filmography is still not very rich, although offers after the success of "The Word of a Patsan", where he performed the role of Coat, there were many.
- Offered completely under me to write the project. That is, conditionally, I could say: "I want dragons to fly, or to be an astronaut". There was a lot of that. I really liked this project. I hadn't seen anything like it. I was hooked by the concept, and also Lesha Chadov is a man who knows what he's doing," Leon Kemstach shared.
Rise of the machine
And if the performer of the main role of the director and producer of the picture Sergei Selyanov decided immediately, then with the robot all turned out to be more difficult. The task was to create a recognizable hero, but different from others.
- Ushanka - a direct association with the Russian man. We took it as a basis. His ears resemble it. For this caught in the development, - said Alexei Chadov. - I reviewed a thousand variants of all generations of artificial intelligence on the theme of robots. They are all very cool, but all are similar to each other. I remember the movie "Robot [named] Chappie". They made him touchy-feely - with ears, a simple monitor, nonsensical plastics - and he became human. To answer the question of whether there was a reference - there was one in the development of the costume. We wanted to find our own robot, our own hero, so that he was powerful, strong, but still touching.
On this shooting day "Apostle" was also on the set - tall, powerful. In the scenery of a children's summer camp with Soviet entourage iron man looked like a guest from the future - against the background of the old grandfather's garage, in which dusty old "Zaporozhets", refrigerator ZIL, torn from somewhere wooden door and other junk. Professor, who in the story created the robot, played by Igor Khripunov.
- This is only the second day of filming. I saw him in the distance. I really liked it! Unfortunately, I don't use such things in my life. I only have a navigator and a smart speaker. There was one time when I was in a commercial, we talked to it. It's funny, - shared the actor. - It is quite possible that in five years, that's how now scammers cheat, representing themselves as any of the people, it will be possible to make a copy of any artist. And to perform, work in the frame with a real robot ... Maybe. It's a little early, only in about fifteen years.
Great confidence in technology in life actor does not feel - he recalled the case when progress used not for the good.
- Tried to divorce. In Telegram came a message allegedly from Khabensky. This is a classic, when: "Did this person from the FSB call you?" I said, "Yes, I did, we're on the phone." And everything, the message disappears at once, and the man merges, realizing that it will not work, - said Khripunov.
Filming took place in the existing children's camp - after the closing of the last shift in the housing came to the film crew. For lunch - a friendly line in the local canteen.
- I was always in children's camps as a child. Wonderful time! - shared his memories actor Igor Zhizhikin, who plays the main antagonist. - I remember that I waited every year when I go to the pioneer camp. Paste was smeared on everyone - both girls and pioneer leaders. They did such funny things. We ran away from the camp to go fishing and were punished. That's life: growing up, transition age.
"(Not) Artificial Intelligence" is also a story about growing up, and also about friendship. To get home, Zhenya has to find a common language with the robot. And in this machine with the code code A.P.O100L human in the end, probably even more than in some people. The premiere of the film is scheduled for 2025. Distributor of the film - "NMG Kinoprokat" (part of the holding company "National Media Group").
