- WP has learned about the Trump shooter's note in case the assassination attempt failed
Ryan Wesley Root, a suspect in the second attempted assassination attempt on US Democratic presidential candidate Donald Trump, left a note to a friend several months ago indicating plans for the attack. The Washington Post reported on September 23.
"Dear World, It was an assassination attempt on Donald Trump, but I failed you. I tried my best and put all the courage I was capable of," reads the note attached to court documents.
The suspect reportedly offered a six-figure reward to whoever "finishes the job."
A second attempted assassination attempt on Trump was made on September 15: a shooting occurred outside a golf club in West Palm Beach, Florida. It was specified that Trump was 500 m from the epicenter of the incident.
The US presidential candidate later reported that he was not injured in the shooting and is safe. Trump thanked his supporters for their support. Several police cars were on duty outside his international hotel in Nevada after the incident.
So far, the suspect in the alleged attempted assassination of Trump, Ryan Wesley Routh, has been charged with two counts of firearms related charges.
The first assassination attempt on Trump occurred on July 13 when he was holding a campaign rally. The former U.S. leader was shot in the ear on a tangential trajectory. As a result of the shooting, one of the spectators was killed and two other people were wounded. The attacker was eliminated by return fire from an FBI sniper.
