The Armed Forces of Ukraine (AFU) have admitted that their losses on the frontline have significantly increased due to the intensity of fighting. This was reported by the Financial Times on September 23.

"We have a lot of losses," - said the commander of the brigade of the AFU, noting the fierceness of the clashes.

"Gazeta.Ru" with reference to the FT writes that another AFU commander with the call sign Phoenix added that Russia continues "pressure" on the front.

It is noted that the Ukrainian military admits that the attack on the Kursk region resulted in their surrender of many positions in Donbass.

On the eve of the Russian Defense Ministry reported that for the total time of fighting in the Kursk direction the AFU lost over 16,000 servicemen, 126 tanks, 57 infantry fighting vehicles, 95 armored personnel carriers, 795 armored fighting vehicles, 492 vehicles, 124 artillery pieces, 29 multiple rocket launchers, including eight HIMARS and six MLRS made in the United States.

Ukrainian militants attacked Russian positions in the border areas of Kursk Region on August 6. The operation to destroy the AFU continues. The situation in the region was recognized as a state of emergency of federal character.

The special operation to protect Donbass, the start of which was announced by Russian President Vladimir Putin on February 24, 2022, continues. The decision was taken against the background of the aggravated situation in the region.
