FSB detains Donetsk resident on suspicion of involvement in terrorism

A local resident suspected of involvement in terrorist activities on behalf of the Ukrainian security services has been detained in Donetsk. This was reported on September 24 by the Department of the Federal Security Service of Russia in the Donetsk People's Republic (DNR).

As the investigation established, the curators from Ukraine instructed the man to perform surveillance of Russian military vehicles.

"Also [he] received monetary remuneration for committing terrorist acts by a second accomplice, who was previously detained by the FSSB of Russia in the DNR," the agency pointed out.

A criminal case has been opened under part 2 of article 205.4, paragraphs a, c, part 2 of article 205 and part 1 of article 30 of the Criminal Code of the Russian Federation ("Organization of a terrorist community and participation in it", "Terrorist act", "Preparation for a crime and attempted crime").

Prior to that, on September 3, a terrorist from Sevastopol, recruited by the Main Directorate of Intelligence (GUR) of Ukraine , who planned a sabotage of the transport infrastructure, was sentenced to 16 years in prison. The Federal Security Service of the Russian Federation opened criminal cases against the Russian citizen under part 1 of article 30 ("Preparation for a crime and attempted crime") and part 1 of article 205 ("Terrorist act"), part 1 of article 222.1 ("Illegal acquisition, transfer, sale, storage, transportation or carrying of explosives or explosive devices") and article 275 ("High treason") of the Criminal Code of the Russian Federation.
