During the liberation of Korenevsky district of Kursk region managed to find 268 people, 118 of whom were searched for by their relatives. This was reported by the governor of the region Alexei Smirnov on September 23.

"I would like to note that during the liberation of a number of settlements of Korenevsky district managed to find 268 people, 118 of whom were wanted by their relatives' requests. This is the result of well-coordinated work of all structures involved in ensuring security," reads the message of the governor in his Telegram-channel.

In addition, during the same period, police officers found 101 more residents of the region from those who were considered missing. Smirnov specified that these are mostly elderly people who left their homes in a hurry, were left without documents and are now either in temporary accommodation centers or with relatives.

The head of the region said that since the beginning of August the law enforcement agencies have received more than 770 applications from citizens who have lost contact with their relatives and friends. Some such applications are filed by organizations that are looking for several of their employees at once. Each application is accepted and considered individually, and active work is underway to search for missing Russians.

Smirnov noted that the search for such people is sometimes complicated by the fact that they left a border region of Kursk Oblast without informing the local authorities. This slows down the restoration of communication between the evacuees and their relatives. The governor urged all residents of the region who left the border region to register and apply for restoration of personal documents as soon as possible, if they were lost.

Smirnov added that people who have lost contact with their loved ones due to the events in Kursk region can turn for help to any police department or to employees of the Russian Red Cross (RRC). The governor emphasized that the authorities will continue to help residents of the region to reunite with their relatives.

On September 12, the Russian Defense Ministry reported that the Russian military had liberated 10 settlements in Kursk Region in two days. Among them: Apanasovka, Byakhovka, Vishnevka, Viktorovka, Vnesazapnoye, Gordeevka, Krasnooktyabrskoye, Obukhovka, Snagost and 10th October.

Earlier, on September 4, Smirnov said that they managed to find more than 500 people who were reported missing during the evacuation from the border region of Kursk. The governor added that about 70 volunteers, who are students of a medical university, are working at the regional RCC point. Thanks to their work, 50 thousand people have received humanitarian aid, every day about 2 thousand people in need apply to the RCK point.

Earlier, on September 1, it was reported that more than 11.5 thousand residents of Kursk region, including 3.5 thousand children, are in 198 temporary accommodation points (TAC) in 30 regions of Russia. The Russian Emergencies Ministry reported that about 800 tons of humanitarian aid had been delivered to the region during the week from August 26 to September 1. In addition, by that time, about 80 thousand Kurians had received payments of more than 1 billion rubles.

Ukrainian militants attacked Russian positions in the border areas of Kursk region on August 6. The situation in the region was recognized as a state of emergency of federal character. The operation to destroy the AFU continues. For the entire time of fighting in the region, the Ukrainian army has lost up to 16.4 thousand military personnel.

The special operation to protect Donbass, the beginning of which Russian President Vladimir Putin announced on February 24, 2022, continues. The decision was taken against the background of the worsening situation in the region.
