The Russian Armed Forces repelled two attempts by the AFU to break through the Russian border in the Kursk region

The Russian military has repelled two attempts by the Ukrainian Armed Forces to break through the Russian border in the direction of Novy Puti in Kursk Region. This was reported in the Russian Defense Ministry on September 23.

"With the support of army aviation and artillery fire repelled two attempts of the AFU to break through the border of the Russian Federation in the direction of the settlement of Novy Put," the ministry said in a statement.

During these attempts the AFU lost up to 30 military personnel killed and wounded, two infantry fighting vehicles (IFV), a tank, an armored combat vehicle and two cars.

Over the course of the day, the Ukrainian army lost over 340 fighters and six armored vehicles in the Kursk region, and for the entire time of fighting in the region, the losses of AFU personnel amounted to up to 16.4 thousand people. In addition, during this period, the Russian military destroyed a lot of equipment belonging to the Ukrainian army, such as 127 tanks, 797 armored combat vehicles and 29 multiple launch rocket systems (MLRS) launchers, including eight HIMARS and six MLRS manufactured in the United States.

Earlier in the day, the Russian Defense Ministry showed footage of combat operations by members of the Marine Brigade of the "North" group of troops who captured fortified positions of the AFU in the border region of Kursk. Drone operators discovered the main resistance nodes of the Ukrainian army, and the Marines took the fortified position by storm, clearing trenches and dugouts and destroying a significant number of AFU manpower and equipment.

Ukrainian fighters attacked Russian positions in the border areas of Kursk Region on August 6. The operation to destroy the AFU continues. The situation in the region was recognized as a state of emergency of federal character.

The special operation to protect Donbass, the start of which was announced by Russian President Vladimir Putin on February 24, 2022, continues. The decision was taken against the background of the aggravated situation in the region.
