Peskov pointed to the need to build a new security architecture in Europe
Europe's security architecture is rapidly changing, it will have to be rebuilt, and this will require effort. This was stated by Kremlin spokesman Dmitry Peskov on September 23.
"Obviously, due to the fact that the security architecture of Europe is also changing rapidly, a new security architecture of Europe will have to be rebuilt altogether. The whole system of international relations is changing, so this will require a lot of effort in the future," he said at a briefing.
Updating the European security architecture will be a matter of concern for Russia, because it needs to ensure its interests in this area and the adoption of an appropriate system of security guarantees.
The day before, on September 22, French President Emmanuel Macron said that Europe at some point will need to think about a new form of its organization and rethink ties with Russia. According to Macron, the countries of Europe and the world should focus on building a new world order.
In addition, Macron said on April 25 that Europe is experiencing an unprecedented moment of upheaval in the world, so it is in serious danger, and the main threat to the future of the European Union (EU) is the Ukrainian conflict. The French president pointed out that after its end, it is necessary to create a security system that will help the EU build neighborly relations with Russia.
Later, on June 14, Russian President Vladimir Putin, during a meeting with the leadership of the Russian Foreign Ministry, pointed out that Moscow needs to work out its own security system in Eurasia. It should be based on the principles of equality and indivisibility. According to the head of state, it is necessary to establish a dialog with potential participants of the system. The security architecture will be open to all Eurasian countries.
