Ex-deputy prime minister of Primorye government arrested in case of abuse of power
The court ruled to remand former deputy chairman of the Primorsky Krai government Elena Parkhomenko in custody. This was reported by the press service of the Primorsky Krai Court on September 23.
The measure of restraint of the former official, who was responsible for the housing and utilities sector, was elected by Frunzensky district court back in August this year. Later, on September 12, the court considered the case on appeal and left the decision unchanged.
"Frunzensky district court of Vladivostok elected E.A. Parkhomenko a measure of restraint in the form of detention in custody until October 21, 2024. Primorsky Krai Court left the ruling of the court of first instance unchanged," - said representatives of the regional court.
According to "RIA Novosti", the measure of restraint was chosen in the framework of the criminal case under paragraphs "c", "e" of part 3 of article 286 of the Criminal Code ("Exceeding official powers").
Elena Parkhomenko and Vladimir Babich, Minister of Housing and Utilities of Primorsky Krai, were dismissed from their posts in the fall of 2023 due to complaints about the supervised areas from residents. For several years, Parkhomenko supervised housing and utilities issues, as well as natural resources management and environmental protection, gas and energy supply, tariff setting, and state housing control.
