Paratroopers foiled an attempted breakthrough by the AFU in Kursk region

Units of the Airborne Troops (Airborne Forces) from the "North" troop grouping have successfully destroyed military equipment and concentrations of personnel of the Armed Forces of Ukraine (AFU) during the enemy's attempt to break through in one of the border districts of Kursk Region. On September 23, the Russian Defense Ministry showed footage of the servicemen's combat work.

Thanks to the professionalism of artillerymen, operators of strike unmanned aerial vehicles (UAVs), calculations of anti-tank missile systems (ATMS) and other units, the paratroopers managed to destroy targets in one of the areas.

As noted by representatives of the ministry, during the task the Airborne Troops destroyed two tanks and four Kozak armored combat vehicles (ACVs).

On the eve, the Defense Ministry reported that during the total time of combat operations in the Kursk direction, the AFU lost over 16,000 troops, 126 tanks, 57 infantry fighting vehicles, 95 armored personnel carriers, 795 armored fighting vehicles, 492 vehicles, 124 artillery pieces, 29 multiple rocket launchers, including eight HIMARS and six US-made MLRS.

Ukrainian militants attacked Russian positions in the border areas of Kursk Region on August 6. The operation to destroy the AFU continues. The situation in the region was recognized as a state of emergency of federal character.

The special operation to protect Donbass, the start of which was announced by Russian President Vladimir Putin on February 24, 2022, continues. The decision was taken against the background of the aggravated situation in the region.
