Servicemen of the Marine Infantry Brigade of the "North" group of forces have captured fortified positions of the Ukrainian army in one of the border districts of Kursk Region. On September 23, the Russian Defense Ministry showed footage of the Russian military's combat work.

In order to fulfill their objective, Russian servicemen conducted a combat reconnaissance to identify firing points and fortifications of the Armed Forces of Ukraine (AFU). In addition, a big role in the success of the Russian Armed Forces (AFU) was played by the operators of the calculation of unmanned aerial vehicles (UAVs), who promptly discovered the main resistance nodes.

As a result of the assault, the Marines managed not only to capture the fortification, but also to destroy a significant amount of armored vehicles and personnel of the AFU. In addition, the infantrymen cleared out the Ukrainian army's trenches and dugouts.

"We had the task of clearing the wooded area that was in front of the settlement where the enemy was located, there was quite a lot of him there, and he was very well entrenched there. We came across the enemy, he marked his positions, we moved back and then we made a plan how we would come in and clamp the enemy. We called them on ourselves by false firing, and while the enemy was distracted by other groups, we were able to bypass them and squeeze them," said the battalion commander with the call sign Yak.

The AFU servicemen hurriedly left the fortified area, leaving wounded and killed fighters. As a result of the battle, the marines of the group of troops "North" managed to capture captured AFU fighters and foreign-made trophy equipment.

"All combat tasks that are assigned to us, we fulfill. We moved a very long distance the other day, we did a lot of things, we cleared forest clearings, we found enemy equipment - [SAMs] Tunguska." [In the forest belt] a large number of dugouts, American supplies," said the commander of the assault group's squad with the call sign Shut.

Also, a squad commander of the assault group with the call sign Akula showed his mascot, a stuffed toy of Cheburashka, which not only helps him and his fellow soldiers bring the Russian Armed Forces new victories, but also protects them.

"You look at [the mascot], you smile. It inspires you, and you go forward<...> It is our Motherland, our family, our land that motivates you," the military man shared.

On the eve, the Defense Ministry reported that during the total time of fighting in the Kursk direction, the AFU lost over 16,000 military personnel, 126 tanks, 57 infantry fighting vehicles, 95 armored personnel carriers, 795 armored combat vehicles, 492 vehicles, 124 artillery pieces, 29 multiple rocket launchers, including eight HIMARS and six US-made MLRS.
