The Russian Embassy in Chad has not received any official information from the authorities about the detention of Russian sociologists Maxim Shugaley and Samer Soueifan at the airport of N'Djamena. This was reported to Izvestia by the diplomatic mission on September 22.

"The embassy has not received any official information from the Chadian authorities about the detention of the Russians. The embassy is in touch with the Chadian authorities to clarify the situation," the embassy said in a statement.

Earlier in the day it was reported that Russian sociologists Maxim Shugaley and Samer Soueifan have been detained at the airport in N'Djamena since September 19. The reasons for their detention are unknown.

According to the official representative of the Russian Foreign Ministry, Maria Zakharova, at the moment the Russian embassy in the Republic of Chad is in contact with the authorities of the African country and is clarifying the situation.
