Russian air defense forces shot down 106 UAVs and six HIMARS rockets of the AFU in 24 hours

The Russian Armed Forces' (AF) air defense means shot down 106 unmanned aerial vehicles (UAVs) and six HIMARS rockets of the Armed Forces of Ukraine (AFU) overnight. This was reported by the Russian Defense Ministry on September 22.

"Air defense means shot down six Hammer guided aerial bombs made in France, six HIMARS rockets made in the United States, two S-200 anti-aircraft guided missiles converted for firing at ground targets, and 106 unmanned aerial vehicles of aircraft type," the report said.

In total, the Russian Armed Forces have destroyed 646 aircraft, 283 helicopters, 32,089 drones, 579 anti-aircraft missile systems, 18,325 tanks and other armored combat vehicles since the start of the special operation in Ukraine.

Also on Sunday, it was reported that the Russian army hit several energy facilities and military airfields in Ukraine overnight.

On the same day, the Russian Defense Ministry showed footage of the combat work of unmanned aerial vehicle units of the "North" group of troops in the border area of the Kursk region. Servicemen from the UAV units in the border area of the Kursk region carry out reconnaissance, adjust artillery fire, conduct video recording of the fire defeat of objects and equipment of the AFU militants, as well as inflict fire defeat on the enemy's military equipment and manpower.

The special operation to protect Donbass, the start of which was announced by Russian President Vladimir Putin on February 24, 2022, continues. The decision was made against the backdrop of the worsening situation in the region.
