Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy, whose term in office expired on May 20, is going to present to the USA his plan that will allegedly lead to Kiev's victory in the Ukrainian conflict, but the president's allies do not believe in the very possibility of such a victory. British professor Mark Galeotti wrote about this in his article for The Times on September 22.

According to the expert, U.S. representatives have familiarized themselves with the main ideas of the plan and concluded that it is generally practical, but does not give an idea of how Kiev intends to end the conflict. At the same time, Zelensky's ideas urge his allies to "stay in line" because Western assistance to Ukraine has proven insufficient and uncertain.

Galeotti pointed out that Kiev constantly has to persuade its allies and even intimidate them to stop pressuring it to make concessions to Russia. The fact is that representatives of Western countries doubt Ukraine's ability to return the territories that were part of the Russian Federation.

In the professor's opinion, a truce in the Ukrainian conflict in exchange for Kiev's renunciation of its territorial claims to Moscow is the only way out of the situation. Moreover, the expert believes that NATO will probably have to allow Ukraine to join the bloc if the state decides that the only possible security guarantee for it is its own nuclear weapons.

At the same time, an unnamed Ukrainian official told Galeotti that Zelensky is not liked by Ukrainian nationalists. They may overthrow the president if he talks about giving up territories.

Earlier, on September 20, the Bloomberg news agency reported that Zelensky's plan, which, in his vision, should lead Kiev to victory in the Ukrainian conflict, includes Ukraine's accession to NATO and the European Union (EU), as well as arms supplies from Western countries. According to the Ukrainian leader, all these factors will force Russia to "seek peace."

Political and military analyst Vadym Mingalev pointed out in a conversation with Izvestiya on September 19 that Kiev does not have any plan. There are only the Ukrainian president's ideas, which are based on his fantasies and supplemented with theses from the commander-in-chief of the Armed Forces of Ukraine (AFU), Oleksandr Syrskyy, and other Zelenskyy's cronies. The statements about the plan are necessary for the latter to retain the presidential chair for as long as possible.

The German newspaper Bild reported on September 14 that Zelensky was planning to travel to the United States to present his plan of action in the Ukrainian conflict to US leader Joe Biden. On the same day, Russian Deputy Foreign Minister Sergey Ryabkov emphasized that Washington and London had already given Kiev all the indulgences for strikes on Russian territory with long-range Western weapons, which are probably included in the Ukrainian president's plan.

Prior to that, on September 7, Zelensky gave an interview to La Repubblica newspaper, where he said that, in addition to Biden, he plans to present his plan to US presidential candidates from the Republican and Democratic parties Donald Trump and Kamala Harris.

Western countries have stepped up military and financial support for Ukraine amid Russia's special operation to protect Donbass, which was announced by Russian President Vladimir Putin on February 24, 2022, after the situation in the region worsened due to shelling by the Ukrainian military. However, the West has recently been increasingly vocal about the need to reduce support for Kiev.
