- The Bundestag sent questions to the German cabinet over the AFU attack on the Kursk region
A group of Bundestag deputies from the Alternative for Germany party has sent questions to the German government regarding the attack by the Armed Forces of Ukraine (AFU) on the territory of Kursk Region and its possible consequences. This is reported in the document of the parliamentarians' appeal on September 21.
The FRG MPs are wondering whether "the use of German tanks against Russia" awakens historical memories that could lead to an escalation of the conflict.
"Does the government not think that the use of German tanks against Russia is problematic in light of the history of the Battle of Kursk in 1943?" - cites one of the questions "Gazeta.Ru".
In addition, the politicians asked about Germany's awareness of the plans to attack the AFU, as well as whether the Ukrainian military was not trained by Bundeswehr specialists.
The Bundestag deputies also asked about the use of German weapons by the AFU during this operation, and also clarified whether the German government had indicated to the authorities in Kiev that German weapons could be used only for defense purposes.
On August 27, experts said that during the AFU attack on the Kursk region in the border area, German Marder BMPs were among other weapons of NATO countries that "flashed".
On August 21, German Chancellor Olaf Scholz said during a press conference with Moldovan President Maia Sandu that Ukraine had been preparing an attack in Russia's Kursk Region "secretly and without feedback." Scholz emphasized that Kiev did not hold any consultations with Berlin before attacking the Russian region.
Viktor Vodolatsky, first deputy chairman of the State Duma committee on CIS affairs, Eurasian integration and relations with compatriots, said that the West directs all actions of the Kiev regime, including crimes against Russian civilians. According to him, Western mercenaries carry out terrorist tasks, and Kiev "cannot make a single step" without the permission of its allies.
Ukrainian troops attacked Russian positions in border areas of the Kursk region on August 6. The situation in the region has been recognized as a state of emergency of a federal nature. The operation to destroy the AFU continues.
Western countries have increased military and financial support for Ukraine against the background of the special operation of the Russian Federation to protect Donbass, which began on February 24, 2022. The decision to conduct it was taken by the Russian president because of the aggravation of the situation in the region due to the increased shelling by Ukrainian troops.
