AFU prisoner tells how he was captured by the Russian military
A captured serviceman of the Armed Forces of Ukraine (AFU), Mykola Ustenko, told on 21 September how he got into an infantry fighting vehicle (IFV) and realized that he had fallen in with the Russian military.
According to him, the command promised the militants reinforcements at their forward positions. However, as it turned out, it did not exist. While the AFU fighters were waiting for help, a BMP drove up.
"By the time the shift was already approaching, we heard the sound of a BMP, ran out and got into this BMP. That is, as we were moving, we already realized that we had fallen not to our own, but to the Russians," he said.
On the same day, Ustenko said that Ukrainian fighters were being used as cannon fodder at the front. According to him, the command does not care about the AFU military. They "throw untrained fighters" to the front lines.
The special operation to protect Donbass, the beginning of which Russian President Vladimir Putin announced on February 24, 2022, continues. The decision was taken against the background of the aggravated situation in the region.
