Harris has stated her intention to face Trump in the second debate
US presidential candidate from the Democratic Party, Vice President Kamala Harris intends to meet with the Republican Party candidate Donald Trump at the second pre-election debate. Harris made the announcement on September 20 during a rally in the state of Georgia.
"I'm trying to have another debate. We'll see," she said during the meeting, which was televised by C-SPAN.
The vice president noted that the Sept. 10 debate with Trump in Pennsylvania was a fun experience for her.
At the same time, the former White House chief said on September 12 on the social network Truth Social, which he owns, that he was not going to meet with Harris for a second debate, stressing that his opponent does not agree to participate in events organized by platforms that are not biased against him.
"There will be no third debate (the first was held in June with President Joe Biden. - Ed.)," Trump wrote.
The televised debate between Trump and Harris on September 10 was held in Philadelphia, organized by the ABC television channel. During the speech, the Vice President promised to provide the United States with the most powerful army, and the former American leader predicted the beginning of World War III if Harris gets the presidency.
Pavel Feldman, a political scientist and associate professor at the Academy of Labor and Social Relations, told Izvestia that the candidates at the televised debate demonstrated a low level of political discussion and looked like children. He also added that the moderators of the meeting openly played along with the vice president. At the same time, the Republican candidate said reasonable things about the threat of nuclear war and the inadmissibility of increasing military escalation, but his words were ignored by the interlocutor and moderators.
The next, 60th presidential election in the United States is scheduled for November 5, 2024.
