Russians told about their attitude to healthy eating

Survey: more than 60% of Russians adhere to healthy eating principles

Almost 40% of surveyed Russians do not stick to a healthy diet, a third also (31%) skip workouts - in this they are hindered by lack of time and willpower. This follows from the results of a joint study of the loyalty program "X5 Club" and the network of technological fitness clubs Spirit. Fitness, dedicated to the support of healthy eating and regular exercise. The results of the survey were provided to Izvestia on September 23.

The majority of respondents (62.2%) believe that they adhere to the principles of healthy eating, and 91% of them prepare healthy food at home. At the same time, 35% of respondents claim that it is difficult for them to stick to a healthy diet. Among the main reasons are lack of time for cooking (56%), lack of willpower (40%), as well as lack of knowledge about rationing (23%).

It is noteworthy that another 20% are sure that healthy eating is too expensive. Russians consider fish and seafood (78.6%), meat and delicacies (47.8%), as well as vegetables, fruits and nuts (36.8%) to be the most unaffordable.

Of those who follow a healthy diet, 54% exclude or limit certain foods, for example - fast carbohydrates, fatty foods, sugar or meat. Another half also drink the required amount of water per day, and 45% pay attention to the composition of purchased products. Also 30% of respondents count calories, another 15% watch the combination of products and 13% eat regularly in small portions.

Chicken and turkey (93%), fresh red (89%) and white (73%) fish and cottage cheese (84%) were among the top products that the respondents considered healthy and suitable for a healthy diet.

The majority of respondents (35%) engage in physical activity at least 5-10 times a month, the survey data shows. At the same time, 29% do more than 10 workouts a month, 12% - more than 15, and 4% exercise every day. Another 11% work out less than five times a month, while 9% do not exercise on a regular basis.

Among the most popular sports are strength training in the gym, fitness, and cardio: running, cycling or rowing. Less popular are swimming, dancing and martial arts.

The majority of respondents perceive sport as a way of psychological relief (61%). Another 45% engage in physical activity to support their figure and health, 41% - for leisure, and more than 35% of respondents are dissatisfied with their weight or appearance.

At the same time, almost 69% sometimes skip workouts. According to the respondents, the lack of time due to the heavy workload at work or at home (84%) and lack of motivation (22%) also hinders the establishment of a regimen. Russians also consider health problems, lack of desired results and lack of understanding of where to start to be obstacles. Only 7% consider sport to be too expensive.

The respondents believe that free time, a company of like-minded people, a personal trainer and an increase in salary will help them to start practicing sports on a regular basis. Also more than 20% believe that they need to overcome psychological barriers - for example, shyness or lack of willpower.
